Custom Anniversary & Wedding Jewelry
The mainstay of Elaina Designs relies on custom design, often incorporating inherited gems and diamonds. Clients return again and again because they want something of value that is personalized, well crafted and unusual. We are good at communicating their wishes, utilizing their stones when possible and providing a wide variety of styles and techniques from which to manifest their dreams. Here are a few of these collaborations from this past spring.
Triple Orbit Diamond Earring Jackets with Huggie Hoops in 14KT Gold
When Susan received these earrings as a surprise for her 30th wedding anniversary, she wrote to me, “Lainey, you and Jim did it again!” It had been 30 years since Jim commissioned me to create the hinged diamond and gold neckpiece for her (bottom photo). This time he wanted diamond earrings to go with the necklace, yet to stand alone for less fancy occasions. Together, we selected Trapezoid, Asscher, 1/2 Moon, and Pear Cut diamonds for a spectacular, kinetic flow of white light ath is at once elegant and playful.
Man’s Palladium Hunt Whip Wedding Band
Michael lives in Virginia and was not able to meet with us in the studio, so we designed his ring via drawings, photos, text messaging and email. As a professional horse and hunting dog trainer, he desired an easy to wear, distinctive band with the insignia of a hunt whip depicted on the ring. Aalia Mujtaba, the other half of Elaina Designs, drafted and pierced the design into the Palladium using a tiny saw blade. Palladium is a member of the Platinum family but is less costly than White Gold or Platinum and just as durable.
Stacking Diamond Rings in Three Colors of Gold
Linda’s diamond collection grew as she inherited cherished diamonds from the matriarchs in her family. She decided on stack rings that could be worn individually or as a unit. The varying textures of the three colors of 14K gold add versatility and the diamonds generate deep sentiment that bring her loved ones into the present moment.
Hand Fabricated Platinum Wedding Set
Lindsy & Andrew wanted a fine, precisely cut center diamond set in a traditional style, yet no in a mass manufactured mounting. Hand fabricated prongs with flanking diamonds bead set into the platinum create timeless, east to wear rings, in proportion to her delicate hands.
The trunk show up here in Ithaca was a huge success and many of you had the opportunity to few and purchase the newest pieces in the collection. Thank you!
Renovating the old horse barn on Calkins Road into the “Green Barn Door Studio” gives clients an interesting and leisurely opportunity to shop while enjoying the beautiful vistas on my land here in Ithaca. Inspiration flares each night as thousands of fireflies perform their mystery dance in the emaows and high grasses surrounding the Green Dor. I am working on a commemorative series called Firefly dance in honor of my dear friend Andrea Riddle who passed away this summer in Ithaca and who’s bright light continues to resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
I will be back in Atlanta from July 15-22 and then travel to Juneau, Alaska where I will have a trunk show on Thursday, July 26th 4:30-7:30PM at Anni Stokes’ house. Please go to our website for images of recent work and for information on upcoming shows.
