Clients’ Family Diamonds,

REINVENTED
The Lucky Blue Diamond

This blue diamond was originally in the center of a horseshoe-shaped ring that Libby’s father wore on movie sets in Hollywood where his trained horses performed difficult stunts earning him the name “Horse Whisperer.” Libby adored her Dad and cherished his blue diamond, but wanted to wear a less obvious lucky talisman.  For a special birthday gift, her husband gifted her a design session with me to create a new ring setting. The result of our collaboration whispers blue sky and starshine in Black Rhodium 14K White Gold.
Smaller Diamond Dazzle

We first designed Sarah’s Black Rhodium necklace utilizing three diamonds from inherited platinum engagement rings that were melted for credit. Next, she wanted earrings, and returned this summer with leftover diamonds in odd sizes. I suggested asymmetry with the versatility for two separate looks. We designed detachable jackets that gracefully arc, dangling beneath Cognac Diamond Huggie Hoops, worn separately or together.Problem: Though made especially for her, the rounded 14K hoops failed to go on easily. Her ears required a wider opening, plus one earring hole had been pierced at a slant. Yikes!I offered this solution: Design a new pair of Diamond Huggies with an Angled “V” shape to accommodate thicker lobes, and straight posts that snap in. The contemporary look is dazzling drama with sublime contrast.

Old Mine Cut Diamonds, A New Beacon

A matched pair of Old Mine Cut Diamonds are a rarity, but when set in four prong post earrings they flopped unattractively, and Tate desired a more distinctive flair. Together we drew, and I imagined how to increase their brilliance. Fareed’s elegant engineering and superb craftsmanship manifested my design of a concave shaped cup underneath each diamond, allowed for increased reflection of light from above. The earrings have now become dynamic beacons, and Tate wears them with ease day or night.
From Rings to Earrings

Karen inherited diamond rings from her beloved aunt who had recently passed away. She wanted a symbol of their love to carry into her daily activities and imagined these versatile earrings. To make a pair with the ring’s single center diamond, a careful match was purchased. The melee or smaller diamonds were not matched in size, and this required innovative setting techniques to create 14K Rose gold Huggie Hoops. Hand engraved “sun ray” lines encircle the detachable diamond jacket drops. Now pink and white move in a mesmerizing dance that brings love into form.

Staying cozy,

Lainey
