1976, Skagway, Alaska at the Old Trading Post
2012, Atlanta Studio 8
We are overjoyed to announce that Lainey has been invited to mount a 40 Year Retrospective of her life's work at MOCA GA, The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia. MOCA GA, located in Atlanta at the TULA Art Center, collects and archives significant, contemporary works by notable artists in the state of Georgia.A request for helpThis two month Retrospective Show opens September 27 and ends November 29, 2014. Annette Cone Skelton, the founder and director of MOCA GA, and I are currently reviewing client collections purchased since 1974. Annette will curate the final 150-400 pieces to be included in the exhibit. I have contacted many of you, but out of the thousands of pieces I've created over the years, I'm sure that I'm forgetting who purchased them. If you have a notable piece(s) designed by me and a desire to participate, please take a quick photo of the item and email it to me at email@example.com. If needed, appointments will be scheduled to view the jewelry in person.
Deep gratitude to all who are contributing to make this show a fascinating timeline of designs that began when I was 22 years old. When I was invited to present this retrospective, I was awed and scared. It is daunting to revisit a lifetime of creation and production and to meet with hundreds of clients. So far, the process has been exhilarating as I reconnect to the jewelry and to the clients, many of whom I have not seen for decades.
All of this is possible because of your support. Heartfelt thanks to each of you who took the time to shop at our shows, try on, sit down and design with us.Your continued loyalty to Elaina Designs will help subsidize professional photography and a book that I hope to write in conjunction with the Retrospective.
